At its meeting on Thursday, 18 December 2014, the Archbishop in Council passed the following resolution: That in accordance with s8 of the Parish Governance Act 2013 and as requested by statutory parish meetings of the Parishes of St George the Martyr, Queenscliff and St James, Point Lonsdale: a. the Parish of St George the Martyr, Queenscliff and the Parish of St James, Point Lonsdale be designated parishes under consideration; b. recognising the long-standing cooperative arrangement, the time period envisaged under Section 74 of the Act is waived; c. the Parish of St George the Martyr, Queenscliff and the Parish of St James, Point Lonsdale be discontinued effective 18 December 2014 d. noting the support for amalgamation expressed by resolution at a statutory meeting held in both Parishes, approval be granted for an amalgamation of both parishes to a new parish of ‘The Anglican Parish of Queencliff/Point Lonsdale incorporating St George the Martyr, Queenscliff and St James, Point Lonsdale’, noting that locally this would be abbreviated to “The Anglican Parish of St George, Queenscliff and St James Point Lonsdale” and would encompass all the former boundaries of St George the Martyr, Queenscliff and St James, Point Lonsdale; and e. pending a statutory meeting of the combined parish, such meeting to be held before 31 March 2015, an interim governance arrangement comprising the existing Wardens remain in place until such time as elections for the combined Parish can be held.
