The Reverend Betty Bracken 
The Reverend Betty Bracken died on Tuesday 19 2026. 
Betty was ordained Deacon in the Diocese of Melbourne on February 6, 1994. 
She served in the Diocese of Melbourne as the Assistant Deacon of Dixon House, Anglicare 
Clayton (1994-99) and then as Deacon of Dixon House under the direction of Regional Bishop 
(1999-2006).  At Dixon House, she made a huge contribution as a Pioneering Community Support 
Worker and Grief and Loss Counsellor. 
Betty retired in 2006 and was granted Permission to Officiate in the Diocese of Melbourne.   
At the Anglican Parish of Box Hill she was deeply involved in Pastoral Care, and the Dream 
Stitches Migrant and Refugees Sewing Program for many years, until her health prevented her 
further involvement.  
A funeral for Betty will be held at St Peter’s Box Hill on Thursday 28 May, at 11am. 
We hold in our prayers her family and friends at this time of loss and grief. 
May Betty rest in peace and rise in glory.
