- To the Very Reverend The Dean of Sydney - When our Bishop went to England in 1855 he was then the patron of all livings and he conferred on his Vicar General very limited powers in respect to filling them in the event of a vacancy, so that he could not licence a Clergyman absolutely to any post... When the bishop went home in 1863 and 1874, he gave the Vicar General unlimited power to induct or appoint Clerks to all livings which might become vacant.... February 5 1878. Pages 243 - 244.
- To The Right Reverend King, Moore College - I acknowledge with thanks the receipt of your letter... and cheque for 7.4.0 pounds for Mr. Apps, which I will gladly convey to him. Your feeling with respect to the sudden withdrawal of our students is quite natural.. At the same time with a new Bishop there must almost of necessity be some changes of administration... Perhaps the College has suffered in the Bishop's estimation... our Bishop is wholly against the theological college system, apart from the University.. I have no doubt that your numbers will soon be filled up... Of course what I have said is not official... February 6 1878. Pages 263 - 264.

Croxton ( William Richard ), All Saints Parsonage, Sandhuurst - The bishop has enquired into the circumstances connected with the dishonour of certain cheques of Mr. Attenbury and requests me to inform you that it appears that until recently Mr A. kept his account with the Bank of Victoria, but that, shortly before the incidents in question, he transferred it to the London Chartered Bank... put money in the wrong bank... Mr Attenbury... examination as Reader. I have before me the Chaplain's certificate... dated April 9 1875. February 9 1878. Page 276.
- To Dear ...Archdeacon - In consequence of the opening of the Gippsland railway at an earlier date than was expected the Bishop has determined to visit Gippsland during March and put off his visit to the North until April... make arrangements for his visiting Kangaroo Flat, White Hills, Newbridge and Tarnagulla, Costerfield, Avernel and Seymour, Echuca and the part of the Elmore District he did not visit last year...His Lordship will visit Nagambie this month February 11 1878. Herring, John Edward (Ed), Bishop's Registry, Ballaarat - In compliance with the request of the Trustees of the Ballaarat ( Ballarat )Bishopric Fund I have the pleasure of forwarding to you the accompanying fixed deposits of the London Chartered bank for the sum of 4000 pounds together with a list of the securities of the Fund in safe custody at that bank.... Stuart Esquire, South St. Kilda - As I understand .. the leases of St. John's Church land were not signed by the Trustees because the Bishop, acting under the advice of the Council of the Diocese, acting under the advice of the Council of the Diocese, would not give his assent to them... Mr a'Beckett has been very ill, and may not be able to come to the Registry for some little time... notice was given to the Trustees in March to take the necessary steps... and as soon as the Bishop returns...
